Stop Bill C-384: Do Not Legalize Euthanasia And Assisted Suicide In Canada

There’s a Facebook group. I must admit that I’m not yet up to speed on Bill C-384, but the group has a great overview of the dangers of the bill:

What does this bill say? Briefly, C-384 (Dying With Dignity) allows euthanasia or assisted suicide for anyone who has chronic physical or mental pain, or a terminal illness, and appears to be in their right mind (or if they are not in their right mind, by their power of attorney’s request). It does not specify how the euthanasia or assisted suicide should take place (for instance, with a gun, with poison, etc) and the person requesting it does not have to be Canadian, meaning people could come to Canada from other nations specifically to die. It has no safeguards for preventing people from disabilities from being targeted by doctors or family members to die, and should it pass, the safeguard protecting people under 18 would be struck down as unconstitutional.

You can read the bill here.

And there’s a video on YouTube.

  1. It should say “Do not legalize HOMOCIDE”

“Assisted Suicide” is an oxymoron. If it’s “suicide” then you do it yourself.

  2. We hear a lot of complaining about the elderly and how they are draining the medicair system, but they also generates a lot of financial activity and advancement in many industries and employment

    • @M Monast: True, that’s an interesting way of looking at things. At any rate, regardless of the burden there’s a duty of care — we can’t just kill people to “solve” the problem.

  3. Bill C-384 – how disgusting! Some of the most severely handicapped people have inspired my life! I work volunteer with handicapped adults and am blessed beyond words working with them! Even those who have no voice most frequently comprehend, and so if I and others like me don’t speak up in their place, they have no voice! How sad, in this day and age, and in Canada! Who do we think we are in this country that we feel justified playing the role of God? The last thing I want to consider personally would be to have politicians deciding euthenasia debates!!

  4. God is the author of life from conception to death. We all have an inalienable right to life and the dignity of life. Let no politician assume his position as an author of life and legislate abortion or euthansia.

  5. God gives us life and only God can take it away. What gives you the right to think that you are more powerful than God Himself? What is happening to this corrupt world and where is it going to stop? When a human being has the right to determine if we live or die (GOD HELP US)
